The Boondocks – More Footage of The Banned BET Episode [LinkUp]

It seems that the Boondocks most controvestial episodes that focus on BET will not only show up on Adult Swim, but may also be pulled from the DVD. Today’s linkup is to HipHopDX.com covering the ban episodes as well as to why they been banned:

Rumor has it the higher ups at BET have been pressuring Sony behind the scenes for months to yank the episodes, including threatening legal action. Now I’m pretty biased as a BET hater, but it’s sad the people in charge over there are more worried about being teased by a cartoon than producing good television. Not surprising, but still sad.

    That clip alone made me as wide-eyed as everything from this entire season put together. I’ve been waiting for that. It BETTER be on the DVD!

    If this is true, then BET messed up. When this goes viral (and it will!) it will get even MORE publicity than if they had left it alone.

    I HAVE LAUNCHED A HUNGER STRIKE AS A PROTEST AGAINST SONY’S DECISION TO NOT ONLY NOT TO AIR THE BOONDOCKS EPISODE ENTITLED “THE HUNGER STRIKE”, BUT TO PULL THE TWO BANNED EPISODES FROM THE UPCOMING SEASON 2 DVD.

    THIS HUNGER STRIKE IS ABOUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND THIS THING AT SONY IS GIVING IN TO BET’S PRESSURE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

    THIS HUNGER STRIKE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL SONY RECONSIDERS ITS DECISION, AND ADULT SWIM AIRS THE EPISODES RIGHT AWAY.

    AND TO ALL THOSE WHO FEEL THE SAME WAY I DO, IT’S TIME FOR ALL OF YOU TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST THIS UNJUST ACTION BY SONY AND BOYCOTT ADULT SWIM AND PRESSURE THEM TO AIR THE EPISODE, AND BOYCOTT SONY AND THE SEASON 2 DVD IF THOSE EPISODES AREN’T PUT ON THE SET.

    “Q” (whatever your name is)… there’s a lot of issues in the world to do a “hunger strike” for. But Sony’s decision to not show two episodes of the Boondocks is about as low on the list as you can go.

    This isn’t the official site for Boondocks, nor does Sony care to read it. You’re right… Sony cares more about their “precious corporate status” than they do about “the fans”.

    I doubt that they are going to pull those episodes out of the DVD, but I highly doubt they are going to put them on the air.

    There’s a LOT of other issues in the world going on today and for you to go so far for a cartoon series show that you may have some other problems. Seek help immediately.

    Alright. I’m sorry. You’re right. I guess I overreacted.

    I never really went on a hunger strike anyways.

    But I’m still boycotting the Season 2 DVD if the episodes are pulled though.

    Don’t even think or say something like that. we have to stay postive and keep our fingers crossed that they put those “banned” episodes on the DVD.

    But if they don’t, you can always call for a boycott of the Season 2 DVD and pressure Sony to recall the DVDs and put the episodes on them.

    That’s what I’ll do if that happens.
