The Case of the Fake People: Keisha Knight Pulliam on Twitter

Keisha Knight Pulliam... or so we thoughtWere you following Keisha Knight Pulliam on Twitter? 5,000+ followers, which included celebrities, were all fooled by a prankster, proofing a point that no one is safe from a prankster. (Yes, I was fooled as well. I followed a lot of people, and I rarely talk to celebrities on there because I don’t really see a point.)

The account was created innocently as “K_KnightPulliam,” and with tweets that sounded like it was from the real person. The gig was up when she followed some celebrity friends that knew the real Pulliam was not using it at all. The user of the account then decided to “Put Em On Blast” and changed the name to FakeRudyHuxtbl.

Before “she” left Twitter, she placed celebrity’s phone numbers on Twitter and warned future users that anyone can fake a celebrity. *rolls eyes*

(The bye-bye message after the jump)

Making the Most (or a better Alternative to) #FollowFriday on Twitter

If you been on Twitter, you might notice that every Friday, there’s #followfriday. It’s basically an Internet meme that was started with good intentions. Mashable helped explained the concept and even tracked the process. It makes an excellent case study on how Twitter works (hint hint to those artists that want to take advantage). However, there’s a few problems with this concept.

Celebrity Who’s Who on Twitter [LinkUp]

So, Kanye West maybe lying about his twitter account, but it does bring up a legitimate question: Who’s real and who’s fake?

Well, I got a list that separates the real from the fake. This is not by any means a complete list nor a “up-to-the-minute” list. But it is a starting point. So, if you ever want to network with celebrities, music labels, radio stations and so on, here’s a starting point:

Artists, Bands and Musicians on Twitter – by GCN1

Disclaimer: This list is maintained by a third party, not me. While I shouldn’t have to put this warning up, it’s amazing what questions I get.

P.S. – In the future, I may put up my own list of black artists. But that’s a big maybe.

Hip-Hop Tech: Twitter 201 – Intermediate (Part 2.0/3)

This is part 2 of a 3 part series about using Twitter. This article assumes that you know the basics of Twitter. If you don’t know what Twitter is or how to use it, I suggest reading the first part before continuing.

At first, I was going to write only one intermediate level post. However, there’s too much good stuff to digest in just one post. So I broke it all down into two parts. In this first part, we will cover:

  • How to carry a Twitter conversation
  • Twitter Lingo (What is “Retweet” and the uses of @replies)
  • How to shorten URLs (aka links)
  • Why Twitter seems to “not work at times” (or why there’s a whale being carried by birds)

Who is Chedda? Chedda’s Blog Exposed! (With Video)

If you been to hip-hop sites as of late, you’ve probably seen an ad called “Chedda Gets Cheddar.” While there are other blogs that have exposed this guy, I’m going to call out this “Chedda” and show you once and for all that he’s a fake.

First off, let’s look at this ad.

If you visit a black or hip-hop related site, you’ll see an ad that targets you. Click on it and it will take you to Chedda’s “blog,” which I will not directly link to.  Just google “Chedda’s Blog” and you’ll find it.  Chedda claims that all you have to do to get money from the government is buy his kits and by using the kits, you’ll get government cheese that you can use as you please.

He explains how he “started to do some research and found out that a ton of government money is given to ‘minorities’ each year.” He also has a backstory:

“So over the past couple of years, I ended up running up a ton of debt (partying, girls, clothes, ya know) and didn’t have a good job to pay this off.  On top of that, I had my rent and car payment to worry about.   I was working at Foot Locker making like $10 bucks an hour, so I needed to find a way to get some money.”

Basically, he’s telling you that he’s irresponsible, yet he’s living life to the fullest and now wants the government to pay for his errors so he can start a “clothing line” and keep his woman “pretty happy.” Sound too good to be true?

It is… and I’m going to tell you about “Chedda’s Real Plan.” Continue reading ‘Who is Chedda? Chedda’s Blog Exposed! (With Video)’
