Ever since Shanice broke out with “I Love Your Smile”, it’s been nothing but love for this woman. However, I feel that Shanice is one of the most underrated singers in the US today. Put her side by side with Beyoncé, I bet she can sing loops around her. Well, by accident, I ran into this little clip by Shanice. Shanice decided to do some videos covering her favorite songs. One of them happen to be a Beyoncé song, “If I Were A Boy”.
So I thought… wouldn’t it be great to put these two side by side?
Well, I decided to do just that. Watch both videos and let me know who you think is the better of the two. I place the live version of Beyoncé performance just to keep things fair. Let the battle begin!
By the way, I love MTV’s new video website. Almost every possible music video. It will make it easy to blog about Rewind classics… well, somewhat. I’ll have to go between MTV and Blastro for music videos now.
YouTube… a distant third.
What’s up people?
Doing something different this post around. I decided to partake in a “Last.Fm Chart Exchange”. Every week, my weekly plays from not only my own Last.FM profile, but from other profiles that are included in the exchange. The idea of course is to cross promote our own blogs and charts.
Of course, some of you may not know what Last.Fm is, so I’ll make a brief introduction:
Last.Fm is a social media site that saves your music plays. By plugging your media player with a plugin called an “AudioScrobbler”, it "scrobbles” the music you playing. Last.Fm tracks all your music plays, giving you a feedback of what you played in the last 7 days, months or even years. You can organize your data, tag artists and tracks, even making custom radio stations. I used to subscribed to Last.Fm so I can have it play new music for me and at $3/month, it was worth it!
Well, enough with that. If you want to partake in the chart exchange, you simply need a Last.Fm account and a (public) blog.
Now, for the charts.
Nukirk Digi.tal’s Chart (Thought Remixer)
Oct. 20-26
It was an Alien Ant Farm week for me.
You might noticed that I’m the least active of the Last.Fm charts. The reason being is because I don’t have the software to chart my MP3 player’s chart. While iTunes can track it very well, I don’t use Apple products other than Quicktime. I have my own reasons for it, which I will blog about one day.
Another thing… I’ve been using Blip.fm’s that also scobbles to my last.fm chart as well as alert my Twitter account with what I’m thinking of about the piece about to play. I am all up in the internets. Influencing de peeples! lol
Write For Freedom’s chart

This is the newest person on my blogroll. Aspiring writer. "Genius" level. Jealous? Maybe.
She’s got a John Legend thing going on this week.

Tha 4.0 Show’s Chart
Oct. 20-26
So, I got a lot to talk about this week. So stay tuned!
Surfing around facebook, you are bound to get surprises. The latest one is an unreleased track by Ms. Hill. Not really sure how this one “leaked” out, for the user did not post a lot of information. But one thing is for sure, it got the sound that I loved before L. Boogie went AWOL.
So, I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I did.

Rhymefest’s Latest and Most Daring Freestyle… A Conversation With His Son
Hip-Hop got some G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Times) moments. I know I had a few of them. I remembered when Nas dropped Ether and got his swagger as an emcee back. I also remembered when was the first time I heard “Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G. However, not all G.O.A.T. moments happens with song. Some happens with actions. Like Snoop Dogg performing “Murder Was The Case” at the MTV Awards. Ol’ Dirty Bastard declared that Wu-Tang love the kids at the Grammys. And this moment deserves to be plugged in as much as possible.
On June 2nd, at a release party/townhall meeting in Brooklyn, Rhymefest had a G.O.A.T. moment. Davey D was in attendance to capture this one. He covered this moment in his myspace blog.
As you can see, there were a lot of deep, yet heavy topics, especially for fathers of this day and age. Instead of freestyling and lighten up the mood, he got serious.
So, I took a listen to the audio clip and needless to say… I was choked up. The audio started off innocently… and then, the second question from his son was asked. And I had to stop what I was doing to listen to the answer. The question?
I can’t go any further. You need to experience this for yourself. Check out the audio clip (17 minutes, work friendly safe) and comment. I personally feel that this moment deserves to be rank up there as a G.O.A.T. moment for Hip-Hop. Think of it as an early Father’s Day present.
Thanks to Davey D for the hook up.
