I apologize if I was a little preachy there. (I also apologise for the double post, but I do not see an edit feature.) I do not mean to encrouch my religion upon others. I simply could not help but notice the parallels between the two. I was not attempting to preach.

Beautiful.

In the 22 years I've occupied God's green earth, this is the first time I have seen Dr. King's famous speech in Washington from beginning to end. That says a lot for the schooling system. ("Let's show thirty seconds of footage and remind people that Dr. King was a great man.") That was a wonderful speech and it's hard to believe anyone could be so well spoken. "Seared in the flames of withering injustice." His words were beautiful, poetic, and prophetic.

Though this may be a little religious here, I do not see him solely as a champion of equality, but as a prophet of God sent to shown men the error of their ways and enlighten them to the truth. A Christ-like figure, he spoke of peace and brotherhood to a downtrodded people as the members of the dominant majority watched him with fear and suspicion. Like Christ, he became a martyr for this cause and changed the hearts of millions in time. Yet, his dream of brotherhood is not yet fully realized.

He won a great victory in his time, yet if he saw the police brutality and the bigotry that he spoke of, as it persists still today, I'm sure he would feel that there is much work yet to be done. I pray that one day his dream is fully realized in the states he spoke of and throughout this nation, but I haven't the faith to see it take place within my lifetime; not while events such as those in Jena take place and "pro majority" marches take place on Martin Luther King Jr. day. A great victory was won, but the struggle still continues.

Forgive me if I'm being preachy. I don't mean place myself on a soapbox. Thank you for posting that video.
