Station Identification (Or Why The Slow Down In Posts)

What’s up, y’all?

First off, allow me to apologize for my close to inactive month in February. Including this post, I only did a total of 6. I was busy trying to take care of personal matters as well as professional. I didn’t planned out my thoughts probably, which caused me to post lack of quality posts.

My first misfire was treating a Obama/Bush Family Link as current news. SOHH, which inspired the post, isn’t a place where you want to get the latest political news, which is something I do cover from time-to-time… just not all the time. Usually when I do cover things, it’s after a lot of thought.

The second misfire was the Chris Brown/Rihanna post. Usually, I don’t write gossip-generating posts (at least not to my present knowledge). I talk cold, hard facts. However, the idea of “Thought Remixer” is basically to take a stand and attempt to argue a point, even if it means playing “the bad guy”. I had a nice concept in my head (playing PR for Chris Brown) which was poorly executed with sloppy research. My post rubbed some people the wrong way and they countered it to the point that I lost interested in the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. While I’m sure I can’t promise I won’t do that again, I apologize if I sounded like I’m covering for Chris Brown, which I’m clearly not. As of today, I refused to comment further on this story until after all the smoke is cleared. I have a lot more the say about this issue, but feared that it will get lost if I say something at the present moment.

Anyway, with that being said, I want to announce a few things.

  1. I’ve been approached to bring exclusive interviews to Thought Remixer. I’m still crossing some t’s and dotting some i’s, but I promise you this: Things will get interesting. Keep in mind that the interviews will be done my way. So, expect dramatics.
  2. There will actually be NEW music coming to the blog. Since I cover black music and music in general, I’m not pigeon-holed to hip-hop. I got hookups. :)
  3. I’m redesigning this site with my own two hands. I’m not as inspired to post with this layout (even thought I finally fixed it), but more importantly, I’m a designer. I should have this site to reflect my own style, not just the header. This redesign should be finish any day now.
  4. Finally, because some people asked for it, I’m launching a business/getting money advice blog. I will be launching a new blog in the next few days. I already have a bit of content from rejected (but really good) articles I’ve done for other sites that will premiere on the new freelancer site. Expect a lot of “cross posts”.

Lastly, I promise to learn from the lessons of past. Yes, this is still a personal blog, but it’s really a personal “brand”. Y’all expect better from Nukirk and you will get better. Well, I will get better and you will enjoy it. Well, I’ll get… no… that don’t sound right. Dammit, you know what I mean!

Thanks for your time!

P.S. – So why not Black History Posts? If you don’t know me, I covered my reasons on this last year. I’m sorry in advanced for the grammar errors you’ll see there.

Free Obama Twitter Background

Close Up of Background Some people know this, and others may not, but I am a web and graphic designer. I’m thankful to have been blogging, via good and bad times, for almost a year. I’m also thankful that we elected someone of historical propositions. So, I decided to give away one of my backgrounds. I’ve been trying to “complete it” for a while now, but it seems to be complete enough.

At one point, this was a test image for me to use on Twitter, but now it sits on my hard drive. But I wonder… wouldn’t it be great to see what another person do with it? So, I attached a “remix” license to it. That means you are free to modified it without my permission. However, I only ask that you don’t sell it and you give credit to me.

So, how can you get this background? Simple.

A Little News Here and New Posts Coming Soon?

What’s up? First off, I have not really been focusing on posts, simply for a few reasons.

  1. I was recovering from an injury that I had before moving to my new place in Westchester. I’ve since recovered, but…
  2. … I started slipping due to the injury and…
  3. … I grown an addiction to Twitter.

Before I started talking on Twitter, I’ve been trying to upstart some other long term projects. And while I was injuried, I decided to use Twitter to talk things out. It was fun, interesting and quick.  However, I’ve grown so addicted to it that even after my injury, I kind of forgotten that I have other responsblities besides making money, like promises I promise myself that I would keep.

While the previous posts about Blackbird were posted, it was just being passionate about something. But now, I’ve grown back to my lazy ways. In other words, “the little hater” has struck once again, and this time, it decided that I must make something super special. Except, I don’t know what. I feel like with the tech posts I’ve been posting as of late, I’m pushing myself to become a hip-hop tech blogger, except that I don’t want to be just a hip-hop tech blogger, not a black blogger and now, I’m kind of lost.

So, instead of shutting down my brain, I decided to ask, what do you want to hear from me?

I got a few ideas that I will posting soon, especially the stuff about Twitter. But what would you like to see me write about? Leave a comment, or hit me up in my contact form, twitter me a message, send me a myspace message or give me a phone call (if you know my number). Give me an idea and let me know how to contact you so you’ll know when/if I use it.

Lastly, if you have anything to suggest for “dramatics”, you can send me a message via the channels I send you. You’ll get credit if I use your submission.

If you don’t know what “dramatics” are, it’s simple: I’m looking for video clips or photos that are hip-hop (or black culture) related that don’t require a lot of explanation, just watch the “drama” unfolds.

Oh, and I updated Wordpress to 2.7. The good news is I get better backend management.

Now, if you excuse me, I got to go to the gym…

Going To Talk Hip-Hop Tech and Internet

What’s old is new again. Yes, I’m going to put the “digi-tal” back into my posts.

As some of you may recall, earlier in the way, I was talking about websites and applications from a hip-hop perspective. Then I canned it thanks to a survey from regulars. However, the hardcore regulars are slowly turning into casual people and there’s new people here. So, instead of launching two separate blogs and confusing the hell out of people, I decide to keep it all on one blog, this blog. Because I do aim to remix thoughts and one of those thought I would like to mos definitely remix are the growing people that blame the internet for the “death of hip-hop”. So, in the weeks to come, I’ll be pounding out these type of posts along with the usual and see if it’s a fit to all the new heads reading my posts, appreciating my thoughts and subscribing to my RSS feed.

And if the last thing I said to you sound a bit geeky, then maybe you need to bookmark my site now and stay tuned!

New LifeRemixed Site? Not Me

I got a comment on MySpace from a good friend asking me about Life-Remixed takeover. I didn’t realized that someone took over the Ning network (the one I closed down) and made it into their own site and on top of that took LifeRemixed.net and make it there own. Ironically, it’s the same person that once sought out to take my domain name life-remixed.com (which I still own and forwards here). It’s funny that I waited and even renew this domain name (life-remixed.com) so that the new owner will have it. The sale of Life-Remixed.com never took place.

However, I did find this to be rather disturbing because no contact to me was made at all about this. I feel that I was basically backstab because there was no formal messages, and thus caught everyone going to the site by surprise, especially since people know that I don’t talk about religion.

Basically, to make a long story short, I don’t own LifeRemixed.net or have anything to do with the development. Needless to say, I’m quite unhappy with the Ning site take over. However, I am even more disappointed that no contact to me was made so I can shop the domain name to people who are interested.

So with that in mind, please know that NuFuture Media is not affiliate with the Life Remixed or Life Remix brands. Thought Remixer for now is my personal blog and will not be a social community. Thank you.
