So… Where’s #MusicMondays… & Other Posts Man???

So… I guess some people (like 10 of you) maybe wondering what’s up with the promise of Music Monday posts, especially since I promised to do one every single Monday. Seems like every time I post up something after a hiatus about a hiatus, I feel bad. However, I decided that next Monday, I will post up 4 Music Monday posts to make up for the lack of all the ones I want to post up in October.

Yes, I know I’m setting myself up for a lot, but I do have reviews and some new music to showcase. So, just hold up until then.

As for other posts, I will try to get to them next month. I have written a post for Black Web 2.0, so keep on a look out for that one.

The Return of Thought Remixer… Eventually

Hey, what’s going on? First off, I apologized for the long, unannounced hiatus. Between personal problems, MJ’s death, and the randomness that is life, I have yet to sit down and put together a thought that will spark.

However, the other problem is the quality of my blog posts have not been up to par as of late. Along with the Twitter updates, it seems that I was making myself more random than I really want to broadcast. So, taking a break was pretty much needed.

However, now I’m working up for “Season 2” of Thought Remixer. Here are some thoughts you can look forward to:

  • Did you know that before DJ Hero, there was a Digital Audio Workstation that acts like a game, but you can create your own music with it? Is that company still around?
  • After what seems to be forever, Striply Drama will be returning! Kirk Roland will be back in the mix, taking stabs at his ongoing quest to get back to the top!
  • A woman is attacked by her mate on the streets, in board day light? What would you do? If the answer that comes to your mind is a blank, you’re not the only one thinking this. You might want to read why sticking your neck out might be useless.
  • It’s a list of places Black people are to protest that gets forward every single year. Why it’s not worth the trouble even paying this list any mind? You’ll see.
  • Also, a conversation about “The Obama Deception” and a general overview of the market for conspiracy.

All that and more will be coming in this month. Plus, the usual dramatics, music videos, and breaking in new music from both mainstream &new artists. Plus, as you probably notice, there will be a new design up and running. (The old one is broken due to WordPress upgrades. I shouldn’t have upgraded without checking…)

So, stay tuned! Thought Remixer returns next week!

Get Your Music Review Here On Thought Remixer

As an artist myself, I know how hard it is to get that much needed publicity. So, I’m aiming to help out my fellow artists. As I’m promoting myself (which includes my business, my blog, and so on), I will be posting a mixture of my stuff, major labels, indie labels… and maybe even your stuff.  I’m getting those invites… ya know, going places. I would like to take you with me.

I can’t promise I’ll convert 2 million people, but I can at least give you an honest review, which you can use in your blog posts.

Of course, since now I’m asking for music, it can easily turn into a spam problem. I should know. On myspace, I get musicians that wants me to listen to them… every… single… day. It’s almost a problem. So, I’m going to lay down a few rules. Follow the rules, and I won’t have to press delete. So, you’re ready?

  1. Use the dropbox, which can be found in one of the sidebars. Or use this link.
  2. Send me an e-mail by click on the Contact link on the top and filling out the information. Upload your music to drop.io and send me a link. If you want to use another upload service, it’s fine, but if I have to fight the service, I will not download it. (Thus the reason I suggest you use what I use)
  3. Make sure you have a web site or some page that people can go to… in public. How am I suppose to promote you if you don’t have a place to go to?
  4. I am not radio, so radio edits are not needed. However, it’s best if you send me your best work first. I wanted to be floored during the first few minutes.
  5. I can’t promise that I will reply to all messages, but I can at least acknowledge that I got your material. If I like what I hear, I may request more from you. Otherwise, take the first e-mail as an acknowledgement and not as a “thanks by no thanks” e-mail.
  6. Send your tracks only once. If you need acknowledgement that I receive your tracks and have not heard back, just send me an e-mail (via contact).
  7. Lastly, sending repeats and harassing me, or making threating comments will not only make you foolish, but will blacklist you. Definately, not a good look. So, play nice.
  8. I can withdraw this offer at anytime, especially if you don’t play nice. So don’t spoil it.
  9. It should go without saying, but you should own the music copyrights. If it’s your own remixes, it should be the remixer sending it or someone else on his behave with his acknowledgement. If you are a label submitting on the artist behave, please say so.

So, what am I looking for?

  • Hip-Hop (Especially if you are a thought provoker)
  • R&B
  • Dancehall/Reagge
  • Poetry
  • Combo of such…
  • … or anything black related (Let’s see if I get Grime or Jazz. I hope I do.)

What I will not look at:

RAP – As in heartless, let me get money, mindless nig*** talk punk sh*t!

Or country… unless you’re really good at converting me.

(So, that should eliminate about 80% of you)

If you are pick to be review, I will contact you and let you know. Also, please let me know if you don’t mind me sharing your music with the visitors (chances are, you don’t, but I just want to make sure).

So… let’s see how this goes.

Exclusive MIMS Interview: March 23, 2008 + Preview

Basically, I want to promote this interview as much as possible before actually releasing it. But some people think I didn’t actually did the interview. So, I decided to throw up a preview of said interview. So what exactly can you expect Mims to talk about? Here are the details:

  • His reasons why “This Is Why I’m Hot” was one of the hottest tracks of 2007.
  • Why he’s not a “ringtone rapper” and how he can’t be a one-hit wonder.
  • He’s declaring an open challenge to other artists (and you) about his music.
  • Why he called his album “Guilt”.
  • His feelings about Barack Obama and how Barack Obama inspired him.
  • His current plans and things most of his fans didn’t know about him (nor Wikipedia).
  • Social Media & why all artists should “get lost” if they don’t take it seriously.
  • And who exactly ARE you talking to on his MySpace, Twitter and Facebook profiles.
  • Plus: Why does he feel connected with me? (You got to read the post and hear what he did)

The following clip is just a close to 2 minute preview just to tease you. Yes, feel free to get pissed at when I cut it off.

Thought Remixer To Interview MIMS… Eventually (Updated)

I’m personally proud to announce that I will be having a series of exclusive interviews. My first (of hopefully many) will be with Shawn Mims (known as MIMS), founder and leading artist of American King Music who’s hit “This Is Why I’m Hot” gave birth to his first album “Music Is My Savior”. Of course, this song was both his gift as well as his curse. Trying to prove that he’s not a “one-hit wonder”, he’s bouncing back with his second album, which was supposed to be called “I Am Hip-Hop’s Savior” and to be release in December is now named “Guilt” and will be release in April. Why the name change? Will he be able to drop the “one-hit wonder” and “ringtone rapper” off his resume? Can he be taken serious as an emcee?

Well, I will be asking the hard-hitting questions about his music, his life after his first album and how his second album will define the American King Music movement (yes, I know. I’m trying to sound dramatic here). This should be an interesting interview, nevertheless. The interview will be recorded and edited for time.

However, I know that you probably got some questions for him as well. So, this is your chance to put into the pool some if your questions. Because of the limited interview time, I can only pick about so many. However, if you ask a good question that I haven’t thought of, I’ll ask it in the interview AND credit you as well. (meaning links to your site when interview is posted up) To partake in this discussion, just leave your questions in the comment section below.

Also, spread the word around if you can. Tell a Friend to Tell a Friend (as My DJ partner would say).

Closing Time for Questions: Tuesday @ 10 AM. Interview will be hours after that.

Update (3/4/09 8:27 PM): Tuesday, the day of the interview had a lot of problems. Most phone problems where Mims’ people basically gave up. I received another e-mail apologizing for the difficulties and will try again Thursday. So, I will be interview Mims… eventually.

Update (3/14/09): The Interview took placed on Thursday, 3/5/09. I’m currently waiting for my friend to “normalize the volume” of the interview.
