Well, maybe if Ed Young (the co-founder) takes all of our input and make it so that it balances out, it'll be a win win. I'm not going to give up on this company yet. I'm just doing a "wait and see". It's still in Beta, so we'll see what's what. If I totally don't recommend it, I'll be the first to say it.

Great post. I was talking mad junk about the whole concept of Blackbird so I also rebooted into XP just to try it out. I came to the same conclusions as you did. I even think it possible it's just another way to make money of black folks. That sounds harsh, but we tend to blindly support black stuff and this could be lucrative for someone who would take advantage (McDonald's, Boost Mobile, Hardee's to name a few who already do).

No new features, just a few bookmarks and a hard-to-read theme. I even went to the trouble of pulling out the bookmarks and adding them to the "blck" group on Diigo. I also dug up links for the sites where the video content comes from and pulled out the RSS feed and stuck it in Regator.

One thing that leads me to think there is something fishy about it is the fact that you can't look at the videos outside of the Blackbird browser (without a lot of digging). Why would you restrict content to the browser that did not originate inside the browser? No sir, I don't like it.

Thanks, i was wondering what the hell this was about. I maintain a healthy suspician of anything niche marketed toward black people (you ever noticed how McDonalds gous OUT THEY WAY every Black History Month with the inspirational ads and black folks health deteriorates a Iittle more each year?). So this sounded like the dumbest thing ever. It would be one thing if it managed to highlight information by individuals producing content from our community and about our community. Not to mention I was hoping that it was going to come with a more accessible learning curve, in order to introduce blacks from underpriviledged communities to some of the power of the internet, outside of myspace, and bp. However it appears that this is some bulllshiet. Not to mention before you know it the whole thing gonna get bogged down with spyware when the pop up ads (Do you like Lil Wayne? Click Yes or No!) get integrated right into the damn browser.
