Obama Is More Than a T-Shirt and a Button…

Obama is more than a T-Shirt Barack Obama is a movement. One that young and old can agree with. One that can change not only history, but also change we need for our most difficult time that we are all witnessing…

… as long as you remember that Obama is more than just a t-shirt and a button.

Here are two questions you should be asking yourself.

  1. Are you 18 and over? If you are not 18, will you be 18 by the end of the year?
  2. Are you registered to vote?

If you answer yes to the first question, but no to the second question, and yet you are talking about all the good things about Barack Obama and what he would do for America, then maybe you need to back up and think for a moment.

The deadlines for most states to register to vote is approaching. For the state of NY, it’s Friday, October 10th. New Jersey, it’s Oct. 14th. Some states are earlier, others are later and very few you can do it at the polls. It’s best that you learn these dates now.

Now, if you are not registered, take a minute and look on my site for a “"Register to Vote” sign on the right. It maybe by this post. Click on it and take a few minutes to print out the form and send it ASAP. If you cannot be at the poll stations, request for an absentee ballot.

Then, what I want you to do is to forward this post to 10 of your (U.S.) friends. You’ll feel a little better if you did, that I can promise you! :)

I will ask the questions for you. Just show them this post.

Now, here’s why I’m getting at you for this. This is one of the most important elections in your life. You looked at the news, you seen the reality. I felt the reality a few days ago. I heard how McCain, is his own words, failed America. McCain is not someone that I want to see leading… if he even survives his first term. His choice for running mate is even more scary… and ironic.

I even seen the mixed reaction of our senior citizens (look below).

.

Wither or not you take your time to vote will make a difference. You need to register to vote and you need to go down to the poll station or get an absentee ballot and vote. Take 10 minutes learning your rights. If you are served time and currently out, learn your rights.

We want to do elect a leader, a good leader to the White House. Electing Obama is not going to solve all the problems. I’m not going to lecture about Obama, we know you want to vote for him. However, if you don’t do the simple thing like registering… and if he does lose… it’s because all you did was wear a t-shirt.

Register NOW!

Rewind: Total – No One Else (Original & Remix)

The year was 1995… and I have a thing for hip-hop. This would be the year that Hip-Hop finally got to my being. While it was slightly there, this is the year I was fully emerged into it. Why? Because Bad Boy was in full effect.

While the West was going the gangsta rap route, Sean “Puffy” Combs and the whole Bad Boy crew was doing their thing in a different way. They got B.I.G., Faith, Junior Mafia (who was not really on Bad Boy) and Total. Total is the perfect example… of studio singers. First heard on “Juicy”, they got the vocals, were hot looking, video picture perfect females. But beyond the studio, they can’t hold a candle to the other girl bands like TLC. But, when you are with Bad Boy, you don’t need to be “live performance ready”. And that’s okay. Puffy just want to make you dance. And that is what this group does best. It comes as no surprise that they did not last longer than a few albums. They were not really “the Total Package”. But they did got hits.

For this go around, we got both the original and the remix of “No One Else”. On the Original and Remix, Da Brat drops her bars. On the remix, Lil’ Kim and Foxy Brown make a rare appearance together. They are not really on good speaking terms now. Also look for appearences by Puffy and Biggie with Lil’ Kim. Question: If B.I.G. was feeling this woman, why married Faith first? He probably might have still been alive. But that’s just me.

While I’ll admit there are other groups that are better than Total, you can’t help but think… memories. :)

Chris Rock on the Debates

I don’t have HBO. I’m missing “Kill The Messenger”, so I’m missing Chris Rock. Chris Rock is of course one of my favorite thought remixers. So, I had to get my fix. Lucky for me, unlike the debates, Chris Rock doesn’t disappoints.

Friday Night Fights… er, Debates

obama_mccain_080201_mn Just in case you were not in the know, last night was the first of three debates between Presidential hopefuls Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama. I’m going to comment on eight things.

  1. Why only Obama and McCain? Are there other parties? Yes, there are more than two parties. However, Ralph Nader, one of the third party nominates was not invited to the debates. Why? Nader himself explains on this site.
  2. There’s not enough questions about China.
  3. I felt the moderator was a bit loose. At times, he did seem to lose control of the debates. Too many questions need to be “clear up”.
  4. John McCain falls back on his “war record”. I don’t like the idea that McCain uses his war records and throwing out his pleas to the vets out there. Most vets fight so they don’t see their children fight.
  5. John McCain’s feels as thought “war” is the only solution. Just listen to the debate. He sounds a bit too willing to wage war.
  6. Barack Obama’s a lil’ bit rough on Osama. Did anyone noticed he said the word “kill bin Laden”? I think John almost never mention Osama Bin Ladan, but Obama said “Kill Bin Laden” at least twice.
  7. Barack Obama called John McCain, “John”. I’m not the only one who caught this. Dan Charnas caught this as well. I think his explanation of why Obama did this is a lot better than mine.
  8. Now I want a freaking bracelet. All this talk about bracelets. I’m amazed that McCain came up with that and Obama just COUNTER-ATTACK that. Just one question… why did he had to look up the name? McCain managed to do it flawlessly.
  9. Did McCain said “Horseshit”? I did not catch this the first time around, but the second time… yep, I think he said that no wonder…
  10. Twitter should be a place to debate the debate! Twitter should be a stop for everyone to debate the debate. Some points where brought up due to the Twitter discussions I had with friends.

My overall impression? I do have respect for John McCain. If anything, I will give him his due on what he have done for this country. However, I don’t feel that he’s the right leader. Obama is still strong…

… I just wish for a second that there’s more choices for the people.

The Bank I Avoided is Now My Bank???

Wednesday was basically my last day as a Washington Mutual customer. While I do know about as much as the economy as… George W. Bush. 200px-Wamu_svg.svg(sorry. I understand the  basics, but I’m not going to lie and say I truly understand it because… well, I can’t follow it well.) So, what made me want to wake up and smell the economy issue? Well, today, I look via my Google Reader and my favorite site LifeHacker inform me of important news. I’m a Chase customer now.

Washington Mutual, my current bank, had not send one e-mail to me about this important current event. I thought I was dreaming, until I call up Washington Mutual themselves and hear a very… sad sounding welcoming me to Washington Mutual, now own by JP Morgan Chase. The wake up call finally arrived… I wasn’t paying attention to the news last week.

My thing with Washington Mutual that made me bank with them is of course the free checking. However, there were numerous times that the representatives there went out of their way to serve me, a customer that only look at them as a “money storage place”. I didn’t really think of CDs, credit cards or even a business transactions. Yet, the reps are always helpful and treat me like they know me. So, I wanted to do more business with them, and expand my operations beyond just “money storage”. I didn’t pay any mind to the crisis last week because… well, I don’t understand it. I always look at the bright side of things. Sure, there was a time when my deposit actually FROZE a few days ago. But again, didn’t think much about it.

So, it forced me to look at the current champion of information… wikipedia. While I am aware of the small problems, I usually don’t fear things such as this.  So, am I happy that my bank account is saved? Yes. Am I happy it was my Chase? That’s iffy. While Chase is literally all over NYC, it’s not really one of those banks that I would go to. I always like “personalization” and banking at WaMu was more like getting a cup of Starbucks coffee. However, this line from Chase’s website turns me off a lot more than anything:

All WaMu customer deposits are now deposits of JPMorgan Chase, one of the strongest financial institutions in the world.

“One of the strongest financial institutions in the world”…

I feel like I’m supporting the mark of the beast… whoo-hoo? More like… DOH!
