Well, Tabou and I decided to extend the lifeline of the Obama Mixtape submissions. We changed up the context a bit, so I decided to put up a page to the submission requirements.
I’m going make the old post redirect to the new page as well.
So, if you want to contribute to the mixtape, follow this link.
It’s ironic how come I don’t have posts about poets, and yet I’m one. So, here’s to the first one I’ll talk about. Claudia Alick performed her work “Employed Broke” on the 5th season of Def Poetry. The line that reeled me in? The first one, of course.
Living in this city ain’t no joke.
I’m working 40 hours a week just to stay broke.
Sometimes I feel that way.
With the way the U.S. economy is going, I think everyone feels this way… and I feel Ms. Alick express it the best with her mix of spoken word, singing and energetic acting… just in case you are wondering why her hands are by her hair like she’s trying to grab you.
