Sean Bell’s Verdict: No Justice [Video]

Sean Bell’s verdict was delivered. Not Guilty.
I don’t know what to say. I can’t say I’m surprised.  I did said there was a good chance that they was going to get left off in an earlier post. I’m going to take this in.
In the meantime, here’s the clip of that verdict via Redlasso. I cut it up myself, so it’s fresh. Pass it around if you like.

Before Nas proclaimed Hip-Hop was dead, Common was trying to save H.E.R.  Common, a cool ass brother, did a rhyme back in the day about how Hip-Hop grew up and became commercial. Describing Hip-Hop as a woman takes a lot of imagination and Common nailed it. So, here’s a Rewind joint for ya…

Claudia Alick – Employed Poor [Video]

It’s ironic how come I don’t have posts about poets, and yet I’m one. So, here’s to the first one I’ll talk about. Claudia Alick performed her work “Employed Broke” on the 5th season of Def Poetry. The line that reeled me in? The first one, of course.

Living in this city ain’t no joke.
I’m working 40 hours a week just to stay broke.

Sometimes I feel that way. :) With the way the U.S. economy is going, I think everyone feels this way… and I feel Ms. Alick express it the best with her mix of spoken word, singing and energetic acting… just in case you are wondering why her hands are by her hair like she’s trying to grab you.
